Veterinary Technician


Who We are Looking For:
 

    
    A graduate of a college veterinary technician program who has a NYS veterinary technician license.  A person with Energy, self-motivation, high ethical standards, who is thoughtful, compassionate, thorough and has a good sense of humor.


What Kind Of Job Is It?

     We utilize our technician staff to their maximum capabilities and train for new skills.  We encourage personal and career development with both in-house and outside continuing education.  Our techs have tech office calls, do patient discharges, perform radiography, do all our in-house lab work and cytology, place IV catheters, and monitor fluid administration,  induce and monitor anesthesia and sedation, assist in surgery, ultrasound, and endoscopy, train and utilize our tech assistant staff, administer patient care instructions and monitor patient progress, perform dental prophylaxis procedures, and perform physical rehabilitation procedures (therapeutic ultrasound, therapeutic laser, electro-stim procedures), do all blood and urine collections.


What Kind Of Hospital Is Burnt Hills?

     We are medium size, full service hospital with 12 doctors and over 60 staff.  We care for about 22,000 pets from 13,00 families.  We see about 120 patients and perform 10-15 anesthetic procedures a day.  We strive to provide the best of care for every patient.  We act as a referral hospital for some diagnostic and surgical procedures for other local hospitals.
