Welcome, and thank you for allowing
Burnt Hills Veterinary Hospital to be your partner
in pet health care.

On arrival, you will check in at our reception desk. Our courteous staff will greet you, confirm the reason for the visit,
and ask you to make yourself and your pet comfortable in our waiting area. While you wait for the doctor, your pet can relax with you in our waiting room or you can stroll outside.

The next stop is the examination room where a helpful staff member will get your pet's weight and a brief history.
Your doctor will then examine your pet and discuss your pet's health care needs.
Minor procedures such as drawing blood or cleaning ears may be done right in the room while you observe!

Our treatment room is the hub of our hospital.
Pets that are staying for surgery, dental procedures, ear cleaning and flushing
or therapeutic grooming spend time here being prepared for those procedures.
In the event that anesthesia is required, be assured that your pet's safety
is our primary concern.
Following a gentle induction, anesthesia is maintained using isoflurane,
a very safe inhalant gas.

While in surgery, our doctor and nurses carefully monitor your pet's vital signs including heart rate, respiration, and oxygen levels in the blood.
We use many of the same pieces of equipment found in human operating rooms!
Your pet is placed on a special heating blanket during surgery to make sure it stays comfortably warm.

After your pet's procedure has been completed, the recovery stage is carefully
monitored by our skilled veterinary nurses.
When your pet is awake enough, and his swallowing reflex has returned,
the breathing tube, which was inserted to protect your pet's airway, is removed.

Once your pet has recovered, it will then be moved to it's "room".
We are proud of our ability to comfortably accommodate
the tiniest kitten to the largest dog, and the owner if needed.
We carefully cushion each animals "room" with freshly laundered towels and blankets to ensure
warmth and non slip footing for your pet.

While we don't do breed specific grooming, we do preform therapeutic bathing and grooming. We utilize the Hydro-Surge bather and dryer units.
The unit's deep cleaning ability, along with the therapeutic massage action of our bathing unit, does a superior job helping us keep your pets skin and coat healthy.

Our comfortable, climate controlled boarding enviroment provides our clients and their pets with a safe,
pleasent boarding experience. During your pet's stay, it receives large doses of TLC daily.
Our staff goes to great lengths to insure your pet is comfortable and eating well. Our boarding service is available to our clients only.
Pets must be free of fleas and current on vaccinations for everyone's protection.
In the event your pet with special needs requires observation for existing health problems,
hospital boarding provides even higher levels of care. While your pet is in our hospital boarding,
a daily doctor's exam is included, and will ease your mind while you are away.

We leash walk all the dogs in our care several times daily. Leash walking provides real one on one attention while we exercise the dogs on our spacious grounds.

Our dedicated group of doctors and staff provides medical attention to sick and injured wildlife.
This service is dependent upon donations we receive from our clients.
Injured wild animals receive immediate treatment here at the hospital Once stabilized,
the animals are transferred to professional wildlife rehabilitators to facilitate
their recovery and eventual release back into the wild.

Our kitchen allows us to prepare various diets designed to meet the specific
nutritional needs of your pet as well as the needs of the folks that care for them!

State of the art equipment, such as ultrasound, and endoscopes, are installed in our special procedures room.
Ultrasound provides us with cardiac, kidney, and abdominal diagnostics. These advanced tools are readily available for your pet.
For animal breeders who need to know if babies are on the way, we can help find the answer.
